Arsenal News: Guendouzi eyes international call

In the latest Arsenal news, Matteo Guendouzi is hoping to force his way into the France set up but admits his main focus is on being successful with the Gunners.

The 19-year-old joined Arsenal, who are priced at 9/4 to finish in the top four with bet365, over the summer for a fee in the region of £7million from Ligue 2 side Lorient.

He came through the academy with the French outfit before winning his senior debut in October 2016 and his performances caught the eye of Unai Emery.

Guendouzi has settled into Premier League life quickly with some commanding performances in the middle third, having started all four of the Gunners’ games so far.

Arsenal fans have quickly taken to the energetic midfielder and he is likely to be key to any success they achieve over the next few years.

The Frenchman has already represented his nation at youth level, most recently with the Under-20s, but has yet to get a look in with the senior side.

World Cup winners France boast a pretty impressive midfield at senior level with the likes of Paul Pogba, N’Golo Kante, Blaise Matuidi and Corentin Tolisso all involved in the current squad.

The teenager has revealed a desire to feature for Les Bleus in the future and is hoping that his performances at Arsenal eventually provide him with that opportunity.

Guendouzi said: “It’s up to me to keep working so that the team wins as many games as possible. In any case, at Arsenal, I have all I need to improve. And we have all we need to have a great season.

“For now, I’m really focused on my goals with Arsenal. I do not rush, things will come if they have to come. But inevitably, it’s a dream for me. I will do everything to get there someday.”
