In the latest Liverpool news, Dejan Lovren is hoping to avoid facing Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League due to their vast amount of experience.
The Reds dispatched Premier League rivals Manchester City over two-legs in the quarter-finals to book their place in the last-four on Tuesday.
Liverpool, who can be backed at 10/3 to win the Champions League outright with bet365, ran out 3-0 winners at Anfield before claiming a 2-1 triumph in the return leg at the Etihad to progress 5-1 on aggregate.
Tuesday’s victory means that the Reds will take up a spot in the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time in 10 years, as they aim to add a sixth European title to their trophy cabinet.
Roma have also booked their place in the semis by beating Barcelona 3-0 on Tuesday after falling to a 4-1 defeat when they travelled to the Nou Camp.
In the other half of the draw, Bayern Munich take a 2-1 lead into their home clash with Sevilla on Wednesday, while defending champions Real Madrid are 3-0 up against Juventus after the first meeting.
Lovren admits that he would rather avoid Real Madrid, who are looking to claim the title for a third successive time, when the draw is made on Friday.
“The aim is now to get to the final, but there are still two matches to go,” Lovren said.
“We’ll see who we play on Friday. I hope it’s perhaps Roma or Bayern because Real Madrid have a lot of experience, they have won twice in two years, that’s something exceptional — but we’ll see on Friday.”
The Croatia international also hopes that Liverpool are shown more respect after seeing off the Premier League champions-elect.
He added: “After this 5-1 win against Manchester City, people need to respect Liverpool a bit more now.”
