What is Texas Hold ‘Em?

Texas Hold ‘Em is a variant of poker that has become hugely popular over the last few years and is played by more people in real life casinos and legal online poker sites than any other form of the game.

How is Texas Hold ‘Em used in Betting?

Poker has always been a popular card game for real life and online casinos, due partly to the fact that unlike other games there is no house involvement. Players compete against each other meaning that there is no take (apart from whatever amount of rake the house is taking from the game).

Texas Hold ‘Em is just one form of the game but the main difference it has from conventional seven card poker is that the aim of the game is to finish with the best five card hand within a group of players. Each player is given two cards dealt face down and then a series of five community cards are dealt – the flop, the turn and the river. Players use both the personal and community cards to form their hand.

The game is incredibly easy to pick up – another reason why Texas Hold ‘Em is so popular both offline and online.

History of Texas Hold ’em

Very little is actually known about how or where Texas hold ’em started, but the Texas Legislature officially recognizes Robstown, Texas, as the birthplace of the game and dates it to some time in the early 20th century.

The game first gained popularity in Texas, then was introduced to Las Vegas in 1963. It was originally played there at the California Club. Unsurprinsgly it quickly spread to many other casinos up and down the strip.

Nowadays, it can be played at almost any real money online casino.
