A touchdown is a means of scoring during a game of American Football. A touchdown is scored as soon as an attacking team gets the ball into the end zone of the opposition, while it is in the possession of one of their players. It doesn’t matter if the ball is run into the end zone, or kicked or thrown for the player to catch, just as long as even the smallest part of the ball has crossed the line. If the body of the player in question crosses the line, but the ball itself stays outside the end zone, a touchdown won’t be awarded.
Most bookmakers offer a variety of markets to bettors wishing to bet on a touchdown scorer. As well as anytime touchdown scorer, there is the option to bet on the first touchdown scorer and the last touchdown scorer. Betting on anytime touchdown scorer means choosing a player and placing a bet that they will score a touchdown at some point in the game. Clearly, the backs and receivers are going to be the favourites to score a touchdown at some point in the game, and choosing which one to place a bet on is a question of analysing current form and the quality of the opposition. The best quality bets are those on players whom the bettor spots as being due a touchdown, but who may not normally be amongst the favourites. If doing this was easy, then everyone would be winning bets, but a large part of the pleasure of online sports betting is the degree of knowledge and research which it involves.
There are some technical issues to note when betting on an anytime touchdown scorer. The first of these is that the bet will be deemed void if the chosen player becomes inactive. The second is that named players will only win the bet if the touchdown is scored during an offensive play. A kick-off return or punt return will be counted as a Defensive or Special Teams play rather than an offensive play. Details of this kind mean that a good working knowledge of American Football is needed to successfully make bets like anytime touchdown scorer.
