Meridianbet Review and Promo Codes

A leading bookmaker in South-Eastern Europe, it’s unlikely that British punters will be familiar with Meridianbet, despite the sprawling service it offers to users around the world. The company was founded in 2007 and has over 900 betting shops worldwide, as well as an online presence which continues to grow. This is taking place both through its own activity as well as its external ventures, including the products it supplies to other companies within the field of gambling.

These developments have seen Meridianbet enter the gaming and casino markets in Africa and Asia, making it a truly international brand, even if it isn’t a particularly well-known one.

Meridian’s advertising and promotion has been relatively low-key not only in Britain but across Western Europe, which is part of the reason it isn’t as recognisable a brand in this part of the world and why it lacks meaningful market share.

The company has however opened itself up to sponsorship opportunities closer to home, and is partnered with Cypriot competitions including ‘3on3’ basketball tournaments.

Much of the remit of the broader company, as well as the bookmaker itself, is focused on technology. Mobile applications for its sportsbook and casino features are prominently advertised on the company’s website, and it is available in just about all European countries which will allow it to operate by law. No doubt aspirations are held concerning emerging betting markets around the world as gambling laws are liberalised.

Meridianbet Overall

Meridian falls short of its rivals in a number of areas, from the markets on offer to the lack of streaming on offer, however, there are still some things to like about the company. There are some neat innovations while the app is far better than that offered by many other betting firms, it’s also better than the website itself, and it’s easy to see why this would appeal to those who prefer to bet on mobile.

As a complete betting experience, though, it still has areas to improve on before it can take the next step forward and truly compete with the biggest names in the industry.

Meridianbet User Interface

The homepage layout itself is fairly standard and those familiar with betting websites will recognise the general way things are organised. Links to betting categories (‘In-Play’, ‘Virtual’ etc.) are listed across the top, while a side bar on the left directs users to individual sports. The most popular are at the top with the rest listed alphabetically. An innovative slider at the top also allows users to limit their view to only sports which have betting opportunities taking place in the next few hours, days or weeks. Once within a section, the available bets are then displayed in the main section of the page, as well as links to specific events and markets.

Betting Markets with Meridianbet

The markets themselves are nothing out of the ordinary, and in fact there are a couple of big omissions, the main one being there are no prices for any domestic or international horse racing.

Even with trends within the industry moving gradually more towards football, this is a very notable absence and detracts from the overall product on offer. Elsewhere the range of other sports betting is adequate although another disappointment is the lack of goal scorer markets. There is, confusingly, a small separate section for this but it only covers a limited number of matches and isn’t clearly laid out.

Meridianbet Bonuses and Promos

Naturally welcome bonuses are available for new customers, and Meridianbet keep this fairly straightforward, with a simple ‘100% bonus up to £100’. There are, however, terms and conditions including a four time staking requirement among other stipulations. An additional bonus is available to those who opt to use the mobile app, further underlining the company’s dedication to digital platforms. Besides these there are few other offers available and they cover fairly specific situations – for example double result half betting.

Meridianbet Streaming and Content

The site seriously falls down in this area with no streaming of sport and no audio commentary (including on the otherwise impressive mobile app). Of course not offering horse racing betting means there are no bet to watch opportunities for the sport but they do not compensate it with coverage of other sports.

Radio is a simple but effective solution that has been overlooked and so too has written preview content. The best the website has to offer is a ‘live’ animation of in-play events, but even this isn’t as advanced as those found on rival sites.

In-Play Betting with Meridianbet

The in-play markets are quite good, offering a wide range of options on football matches as well as less obvious in-play sports such as volleyball and ice hockey, these events take pride of place on the homepage (again, similar to many betting sites) and are undoubtedly one of the better aspects of the website.

A tick box allows users to ‘accept all changes’ to prices as well, which though a simple feature isn’t included on all online bet slips and can save valuable seconds when betting in-play.

In-play scores can also be monitored using a pop-up window available from the ‘Statistics’ tab right at the top of the page, but this is fairly confusingly laid out and won’t tell you anything wouldn’t be able to find out by simply opening up a live scores website in a new tab.

Banking with Meridianbet

A wide variety of banking options are available, and as well as major debit cards, online banking services such as Skrill are accepted. The same goes for withdrawals, though the website does note that both deposits and withdrawals must be made using the same method.

Customer Experience with Meridianbet

Dissatisfaction with the website often focuses around the speed that it runs at. Though this appears to have improved somewhat in the past year or so it is still fairly sluggish at times, as well as confusing with the order of sports in the menu and mass of information within each section. Some criticism has also been directed at the promotions on offer, such as the staking requirement on the welcome concession mentioned earlier.

As already alluded to a couple of times, the mobile app is a central feature of the Meridianbet product, especially when compared to other smaller firms; in many ways, it is easier to navigate and quicker than the full website, when maintaining all of the functionality. The layout is also simpler than on desktop and despite it supposedly being a condensed version of the full website it is almost more enjoyable to use.

Customer Service at Meridianbet

For when things do go wrong, customer support is mainly promoted in the form of a live chat function which is ever-present at the bottom of the page. Customers are also able to contact the company through email, post, phone and fax.

Our Opinions of Meridianbet

The sportsbook with an excellent app for punters on the go, Meridianbet doesn’t offer the complete package to punters just yet. It has some work to do to build up its desktop experience and offer additional content and streaming.

  1. Mobile app is extremely easy to use. The desktop site is slow and pales in comparison
  2. Limited markets and weak odds
  3. Offers and promotions are narrow and subject to complex terms and conditions
