What is a Treble 20?
A treble 20 is the highest score possible with one dart. A dart board is divided into 20 sections – each with a narrow double and treble section where the points are multiplied accordingly. Therefore, when a dart lands in the treble section of the 20 it awards the player 60 points. Throwing three treble 20s is the highest three-dart point total – 180.
How is Treble 20 used in Sports Betting?
As well as match winners and correct scores, many of the betting markets with darts include treble 20s – in relation to the amount 180s that are predicted. Bettors can usually choose from number of 180s in a match or leg, who will score the most 180s and many more variations. Obviously, for any of these bets to be winners the player will have to achieve treble 20 with a large amount of his darts.
One sports market that relies entirely on the throw of one dart is the first dart treble 20. The odds on this outcome can sometimes be relatively attractive as it usually takes players a while to get into the rhythm of their game and are not throwing their best darts right at the start of the match.

Obviously to achieve the ultimate nine dart finish a player must start with a treble 20. The first ever live televised nine dart finish at the World Championship was by Paul Lim in 1990. Although he went out in the quarter finals in that year and did not go on to become a big name in the sport he will always be remembered for his televised feat.
