A throw in is awarded during a game of association football (soccer) and is explained in law 15 of the official rules of the sport. A throw in is awarded when the whole of the ball crosses the touchline, either on the ground or in the air. The throw-in will be awarded to the opposing team of the last player to touch the ball, and has to be taken from the spot where it crossed the line (although players generally try to steal at least a couple of yards). The ball has to be thrown with both hands from behind the head, a part of each foot has to be on the touchline or on the ground outside the touchline, and all opponents have to stand at least 2 meters away from the spot where the throw in is being taken.
It is impossible to score a goal directly from a throw in. If a player throws the ball into their own goal, a corner kick will be given to the opposing team, if they throw it into the opponents goal, a goal kick will be awarded to the opposing team. How is a Throw in Used In Sports Betting?
The growth of online betting has made it possible to place a range of bets on what were formerly seen as incidental issues such as throw ins, bookings, goal kicks and offsides. Strategy for throw in betting:
There's a number of good strategies that can be employed if you are looking to place a bet that revolves around the number of throw ins during a match. One would be a team's passing stats. If a team often misses the passes they attempt there's a good chance more throw ins will be attempted as more passes are likely to end up leaving the pitch.
Look for two teams with weak passing stats, and throw ins should be more abundant, the opposite can be said about teams with better passing ability.
