Scoring average is used as a calculation to determine the average score a player makes over a given period of time.

The best example of how scoring average is used in sports betting would be to use cricket as the example.
In cricket, a player earns themselves a batting average (also known as scoring average). For example, in Test Match cricket, in which a player will likely be at the crease for two innings, if a batter ends the match with 100 runs in the first innings and 50 in the second, they would end the match with a scoring average of 75 runs - a combined 150 runs divided by two innings at the crease.
This is important information in sports betting as a batsman with a scoring average of 75 is considered more likely to score a century in the next match than a player with a scoring average of 20. That means the punter can make a statistical bet on who to back in the batting markets.
