What is a Perfect Score?
The meaning of a perfect score is different depending on which sport you are talking about. But across all disciplines it will refer usually to the amassing of the highest points total possible – whatever that might be.
In sports such as football a perfect score will tend to be exactly the result you have placed a bet on - but for sports including darts, gymnastics and snooker there will be a highest possible points total, and you can usually bet on that event occurring or not.
How is a Perfect Score used in Sports Betting?
With any sport where a particular high score can be attained, there will be the chance to bet on that outcome. In snooker a 147 break is the highest possible points tally in single frame and there will be a market for that eventuality in most games.
In darts the chances of a 180 points tally with three darts is more common, but bettors can still attempt to predict to how many times that will happen within a particular match or tournament. The nine-dart finish could also be seen as darts’ ‘perfect score’.
Golf has something called a perfect round in which a player will score the equivalent of a birdie on each hole (one shot under par). This means that on a par 72 course the golfer will have finished with a shot score of 54.
Did You Know...
Although a the standard accepted for a perfect round is 54 – as it is the lowest score generally thought to be possible from a professional player on a par 72 course – it has never actually been achieved in a professional event.
