Pass or rush determines the type of play an offensive team makes in an American football game.
A rush is used to describe when a team runs with the ball starting from behind the line of scrimmage in an attempt to gain yardage.
A pass is the motion of the quarterback throwing the ball in forward motion to make a pass most likely to a wide receiver.
This is not to be confused with a pass rush which is when the defending team designate a player to aggressively and quickly reach the quarterback in order to put pressure on him/her, with the ultimate aim of sacking them.
How is Pass or Rush used in Sports Betting?
Pass or rush markets are often used when it comes to in-play betting. This is because the tactics of the team will determine which type of play to make.
Punters can bet on what the next type of attacking play will be, either a rush or a pass by throwing the ball forward.
However, there is another element to this, as when a quarterback makes a forward pass, if the quarterback’s teammate fails to catch the ball then it is known as an incomplete pass and the play has to be started again.
If they catch the ball, then it is a completed pass but if the opponent collects the ball then the play is turned over.
