What is a Maximum?
A maximum is a term that can be associated with many sports. In most of them, it is tantamount to achieving the highest possible score in a particular game by an individual player or team.
For example, in snooker, achieving a break of 147 is also known as a maximum as it is the highest points total an individual can score in a frame.
The term is also largely associated with darts where hitting a 180 is considered a maximum, as it is the highest possible score that can be achieved in a player’s turn with the three darts in hand.
How is Maximum used in Sports Betting?
Placing bets on maximums in chosen sports can be popular and also often produce some long odds due to the difficulty of achieving the feat.
For example, you would be able to bet on whether a player would score a 147-maximum break at the World Snooker Championships. Or, you could predict how many one hundred and eighties would be scored in a match between Phil Taylor and Michael Van Gerwen, with an over/under market an option in darts.
The return on maximum bets can be large especially in snooker where a 147-break is a rarity on the World Stage but still remains a popular betting option for punters looking for something a little different in the betting markets.
