What is Frame Betting?
Frame betting is one of the sports betting markets which bookmakers offer for snooker tournaments. In snooker tournaments, each match consists of a set number of frames, with the winner being the first player to win more than half of that number. Winning a frame itself means simply scoring more points than an opponent. In most snooker tournaments the number of frames in the final is 19 or less, while in the World Championship it is currently as high as 35. Longer term snooker bets include betting on the winner of a particular match, or the entire tournament, but frame betting delivers much quicker results.
How is Frame Betting used in Sports Betting?
Frame betting involves placing a bet on which player will go on to win the next frame. It is a form of betting which rewards close concentration on the way the match is unfolding, and an understanding of the style of play of each player. If a player has just lost several frames in a row, for example, it is likely that the odds on them winning the next frame will lengthen, making the bet more attractive. At the same time, the fact that they are trailing badly may encourage them to play a more attacking style of snooker, making it more likely that they’ll finally win a frame. In addition to this, the player who breaks is statistically more likely to go on and win the frame.
Frame betting often hinges upon the confidence each player is showing, and where the momentum of the match seems to be heading. A possible exception to this may occur when a player is just one frame away from victory. Research may reveal the fact that a particular player often has trouble closing out a match, and this point in the game may be the moment to bet on the opponent, at odds which have probably lengthened to reflect their losing position.
