Say you are betting on four NBA games on the same night. You pick four teams you expect to win on the moneyline - the straightforward bet on which team wins the game. The odds offered are:

Team B to win: +120 (decimal 2.20)
Team C to win: -130 (decimal 1.77)
Team D to win: +105 (decimal 2.05)

You place a $20 four-fold on all four. To find the combined multiplier, you multiply the decimal odds together: 1.91 x 2.20 x 1.77 x 2.05 = 15.26. Multiply that by your $20 stake and your total payout if all four win is $305.20. That includes your original $20 back, so your profit is $285.20.

Now compare that to placing four separate $20 bets. If all four win at those odds, your total profit across the four singles would be roughly $37. The four-fold multiplies the potential return dramatically. The catch is that all four must win. One loss anywhere in the chain and you get nothing back. That is the trade-off every four-fold bettor accepts.

The four-fold is the sweet spot for many accumulators bettors. It offers a meaningful boost in potential return compared to a two- or three-leg bet, without stacking quite as many legs as a five-fold or six-fold, where the odds of all selections winning drop sharply.
