What is Final Result?
A final result bet is predicting the outcome of a sports event. It can apply to any event that has a distinct set time of play but is a common bet when it comes to football. The bettor can choose from a home team win, an away team or a draw.
This is sometimes referred to a 1x2 bet, with 1 denoting the home team, 2 the away team and the x being the draw.
It is important to note here that the final result is taken to be at the end of the match – any extra time or penalties following the end of the 90 minutes of a football match are not included unless specifically mentioned.
How is Final Result used in Sports Betting?
A final result bet can be used as a single – or as part of an accumulator. Unlike the more difficult to predict correct score bet, a final result can only be one of three options so the odds are shorter and supposedly easier for the bettor.
One other factor that comes into play when it comes to a final result bet is that the prediction takes into account any handicap included in the wager. If the handicap is taken on the sports event then the ‘final result’ is the outcome after that has been applied.

In 2010 Mali were losing 4-0 to Angola in an Africa Cup of Nations match with just 11 minutes to go. But one bettor placed a £5 final result bet on the draw. Incredibly at the end of 90 minutes the score was unchanged, but Mali scored four times in injury time (note – not extra time) and the lucky punter ended up £5,000 richer.
