What is Delivery?
Delivery is the term in cricket for the action of bowling towards a batting player. A bowler will have six deliveries in each over before another bowler will take over. As well as effectively being another word for ‘ball’ there are also a number of types of delivery that are used to varying degrees in test matches, one day internationals and Twenty20 fixtures.
How is Delivery used in Sports Betting?
As ‘delivery’ is such a broad term, there are many ways it can be used as part of a bet when it comes to cricket. One of the most popular is with the first ball of an innings or a match as there are a number of eventualities possible. With a new ball to start the match a bowler may take a while to find their rhythm and this also provides a variety of outcomes that can occur.
With the many different types of delivery there is also the opportunity to bet on how many left handed or right handed deliveries will be bowled in a particular session or match – or even whether a bowler will bowl over or round the wicket. Cricket has a deep vocabulary connected to it and this helps boost the number of markets available.
There are many techniques of delivery that a bowler can use to outwit their opponent and they are generally broken down into leg spin, off spin and fast bowling. But each of these has their own sub-types – and all of them can be incorporated into a bet.
