What is a Conversion Kick?
In rugby union and rugby league a team that has just scored a try will then be given the chance to score two more points by successfully completing a conversion kick. This is where a player attempts to kick the ball through the H-shaped posts from roughly in line with where the try was scored. The player can kick from as near or far back as they like.
How is a Conversion Kick used in Sports Betting?
Although rugby union and rugby league have different sets of rules they both have conversion kicks after a try is scored – and they both get the successful team two extra points. It is rare that bookmakers will offer betting markets specifically related to conversion kicks but they may be included if the kicker for a particular side is well known and special bets could be introduced.
Where conversion kicks do become important in sports betting is how they affect the score – and there will always be a number of different markets available here. Bettors need to take into consideration how those potential two extra points - after every single try – can change the correct score, winning margin and many other markets.
