A bogey is the word used when a golfer scores one over par for a particular hole on a golf course. Par, it should be remembered, is the number of strokes which an expert golfer is expected to take to get the ball in the hole, and the majority of golf holes are par 3, 4 or 5. Therefore, a score of 4, 5 or 6 would be a bogey on each of these holes respectively. Two shots over par for a hole is known as a double bogie, and three shots as a triple bogie.
How is a Bogie Used in Sports Betting?
Betting on a player or players scoring a bogey on a hole tends to be an in play bet, being placed once the golfer in question is already out on the course. If the player scores one over par on the hole, then the bet will pay out, while a bet on a bogey or worse will pay out if the player is two or more over par.
