What is Bettor?
A bettor is a term used to describe a person who places a bet on sports, whether on a regular basis or only sporadically.
The term is not strictly just associated with sports betting and can relate to any form of gambling, such as in a casino - anywhere the act of placing a bet on the outcome of a specific scenario takes place. It is among the more formal terms for the person placing the bet.
The term bettor can be known by a number of different sayings such as wagerer, punter, gambler or even high roller. A high roller is a bettor who places large sums of money on either casino or sports bets and gains a much larger return for the higher level of risk.
How is Bettor used in Sports Betting?
It is thanks to a bettor that bookmakers exist as it is they who are the bookies’ customers.
If you were to sign up to a sportsbook a place any kind of bet on a Premier League game, then you are considered a bettor.
This could be a correct score, accumulator or match winner bet - in fact, any kind of bet. While it is sometimes a term used to apply to regular punters, whenever a bet is placed, the individual placing the bet is the bettor.
This is not limited to just football and is the case no matter the sport and market within that sport that you wish to bet in.
