An accumulator, or "acca" for short, is a single bet that combines four or more individual selections, where every selection must win for your bet to pay out. Miss one, and the whole bet loses. In return for that added risk, the potential payout grows much larger than betting on each selection separately.

What does accumulator (acca) mean?
An accumulator is a multi-selection bet where your winnings from the first selection are automatically rolled into the next, and so on through every leg. A "leg" is each individual game or event in the bet. Because each leg multiplies the running total, the odds compound quickly - a modest stake on four or five selections can produce a notably large payout if everything lands. The trade-off is straightforward: one wrong result wipes out the entire bet.
The term "accumulator" is rooted in British and European soccer betting, where it remains the standard word. In the US, the exact same structure is called a

Real-life example
Say it is a Saturday in MLS and you want to build a four-leg acca. You pick four matches, and a sportsbook gives you the following odds on each home team to win:
- Atlanta United to beat New York City FC: +110 (decimal 2.10)
- LA Galaxy to beat Seattle Sounders: -120 (decimal 1.83)
- Inter Miami to beat Orlando City: +100 (decimal 2.00)
- Portland Timbers to beat Colorado Rapids: +130 (decimal 2.30)
To work out the combined decimal odds, you multiply the four decimal figures together: 2.10 x 1.83 x 2.00 x 2.30 = 17.71. That is your combined odds multiplier. You place a $10 stake - the amount of money you put on the bet. Your total payout if all four selections win is $10 x 17.71 = $177.10, giving you a profit of $167.10 on a $10 bet.
Now consider what happens if Portland loses while the other three win. The acca loses in full. You do not get a partial return for the three correct picks. Your $10 is gone. That is the defining feature of an accumulator: it is all or nothing.
When you'll see accumulator (acca)
