Is Barstool Sports legal in New York?

No, New York gambling fans still can't bet on Barstool Sports.

Even though headquartered in NYC, the bookmaker couldn't get a thumbs up from the New York State Gaming Commission. But do New Yorkers still need to wait to try their beginner's luck on online betting sites? Of course, not! If not Barstool Sports, there are still many more platforms to enjoy online sports betting in New York.

Here are some of the best alternative legal sportsbooks in NYC

New York residents, don't lose heart! The doors to the online betting world are still wide open for you.

Check out the following list of legal sportsbooks available in New York to find an array of other renowned sportsbook platforms that recently went live in NYC.

• DraftKings: After setting foot in Arizona, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, New Jersey, and many more, Draftkings has now rolled out for New York bettors.

• Caesars Sportsbook: Are you a fan of NFL betting? Then don't look beyond this betting site. Some lucrative NFL Super Wild Card Weekend promos and deals are waiting for you on Caesars.
• BetRivers: BetRivers is now available for New York gamblers with a plethora of fabulous BetRivers NY bonuses. Do check out their $250 Deposit Match bonus to boost your winning odds.
• FanDuel: New Yorkers can now enjoy sports betting in one of the most celebrated online sportsbooks in the country. In addition, as a new member from the Empire state, you can enjoy its $1000 no sweat first bet offer.
• Resorts World: An excellent option for bettors who want to gamble from the convenience of their smart devices. Sign-up now to avail generous welcome bonuses.

And here are some more New York sports betting sites launching soon:

• WynnBET: Soon to go live in the New York online sportsbook market, WynnBET is already a popular name globally. So you can't give it a miss!
• PointsBet: Be ready to create an account on PointsBet. In addition to generous PointsBet NY bonus deals and promo offers, you can also enjoy their exclusive points betting markets.
• BallyBet: Another soon-to-be-launched sportsbook for New Yorkers to wager on their favorite sports and leagues.
• BetMGM: BetMGM is also one of the nine bookies that got a license to launch an online betting platform in the Empire states.

Why was Barstool Sports denied approval in New York?

The New York State Gaming Commission recently ruled out Barstool Sports from its list of legalized online gambling platforms. As per the founder of this well-known sports media company, Dave Portnoy, a high tax rate levied on gambling is one of the reasons for their bid rejection.

But this left many New Yorkers with a question: Will Barstool Sports ever arrive in New York?

Well, not now, but soon you may see Barstool Sports join the club of online bookies in the Empire state. The rejection doesn't mean the bookmaker lost the battle. It will likely hit the New York market this year after completing all the state-based gambling legalities. Besides, the sportsbook's popularity in other US states also ensures it won't fail to impress the NYC gamblers once available.
